Desire's Attainment - Baphomet Painting by Heron Michelle

$450.00

24” x 36 × 1.5” canvas. Mixed media of ink and acrylic.

The Baphomet - Eliphas Levi’s notorious symbol of Universal Equilibrium, is reimagined and placed within the fantastical Hermetic story of cosmic creation that blooms from the love of the God/dess.

The God descends as fire (Divine Will) and light (Divine Mind). As he passes through the seven celestial spheres on the way to earth, he is cast into an animal form. The Pymander describes the seven celestial spheres as being governed by the classical planets, which form a die through which Astral Light is cast into material form. The Goddess ascends to meet her lover, as her waters (Divine Love) and earth (Divine Body) enfold his light and fire in loving embrace BELOW. Like a Yin/Yang, as she passes through the spheres, she rises as feminine divinity to also be enfolded in his light and fire ABOVE.

In the below, The God’s light shines through The Goddess’s crystalline matter, and casts the illusion of our material separateness like light through a prism, revealing our beautiful diversity of rainbow colors. From the ecstasy of their reunion, they birth all of nature in balance, symbolized as the Baphomet.

Unity is our Hermetic truth. Nature, and all the beings alive within it, retain the powers of all five elements inherited from the God/dess. We need only remember our inherent divinity to reclaim their creative power within ourselves.

As above, so below; as within, so without.
